What is buildingSMART ?
BuildingSMART is an innovative way of designing, assembling and operating a built facility virtually using intelligent objects in a model server so that design, construction, operation and sustainability are tested and optimised before work commences on site.
It is using Building Information Modelling and Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) for the dynamic and seamless exchange of accurate, useful information in the built environment among all members of the building community. The use of this standard method is reducing costs, delivery time and environmental impact as well as improving communication, productivity and quality. It enables the building industry to take more and better decisions earlier in the life cycle of a built facility.
