The BuildingSMART French-Speaking Alliance was created in 1995 (under the name IAI French Chapter) as the French speaking part of BuildingSMART International. It gathers today 53 members around the main objective of defining a common language (the IFC) to improve interoperability in the construction and facilities management industry.
Main activities
All the activities of the BuildingSMART French-Speaking Alliance are now linked to the national eXpert programme, supported by the French Ministry of Economy, Finances and Industry (through the Directorate General for Enterprises), in co-operation with the Ministry of Transport and Equipment. This two years project started on 1st of May 2007, and its aim is to promote ICT use in the construction sector with special focus on BIM and interoperability.
Education and dissemination
The BuildingSMART French-Speaking Alliance is also active in the field of education and dissemination through the e-BAT programme, aimed at developing the use of ICTs within the construction sector, and in STAND INN, a European project dedicated to the application of BuildingSMART’ standards to the sustainable development sector.
