Project recognised as ‘Network of the Year’
The STAND-INN project won the EC award for Network of the Year at the Europe INNOVA conference in Lyon on 23 October 2008. The Commission identified STAND-INN as the project ‘which has made the most effort to raise public awareness about its activities and to increase its visibility outside, as well as inside, the Europe INNOVA initiative’.
With its strong message and effective communications, STAND-INN was judged to be leading the field. 'Congratulations to whole STAND-INN team,’ said Svein Haagenrud, project manager. ‘We have created a platform for real transformation in our sector’.
The main deliverable of the project is the STAND-INN Handbook – a reader-friendly guide to the technologies and
their benefits, with case studies and action points. The project itself was rooted in discovery, analysis and recommendations for action, and the Handbook draws on the project material to provide practical advice. A section on how to get started will be particularly valuable to the industry.
The STAND-INN project has demonstrated strong support for building information modelling and IFC. During its two years of operation, the project explored uptake of BIM and IFC – as well as other standards – across Europe and beyond. It looked at what needs to be done to encourage new adopters. Taken together, the analysis, communications and personal efforts of individual members at industry events have provided a vigorous fillip to the new collaborative ways of working, enabled by the ‘building smart’ standards.
