Project: INTECO-BUILD Project Title: Promotion of Intergration of Renewable Energy, Energy Management and Advanced Building Design Concept in: INTelligent ECOlogical BUILDings
Contract Number: TREN/07/FP6EN/S07.70941/038622/ INTECO BUILD
Duration: Autumn 2007 to Summer 2010
Project Website: www.intecobuild.eu
Co-ordinator: Institute SC OVM-ICCPET S.A.
Client: European Commission, DG Energy & Transport
Summary: INTECO-BUILD is a project that promotes a new approach to the integration of renewable energy, energy management and advanced building concepts into the design of intelligent ecological buildings.
This involves the use of active and passive heating, solar energy, electricity and water heating, and reducing/eliminating the demand for energy and replacing it with more efficient alternatives.
The project provides an assessment of local market conditions to help eliminate any technical or regulatory barriers, an assessment of the socio-economic impact of the buildings and targeted analysis of private, public and political commitments.
Project Objectives: The INTECO-BUILD project enables the promotion and dissemination of international, national and/or other actions in the area of Eco-buildings in order to lead well integrated and efficient solutions for reducing EU’s dependency on conventional fuels.
The project also aims to assess the potential of using eco-buildings technologies in the EU and ACC countries using the most innovative and state of the art technologies in Europe to promote large scale implementation of eco-buildings technologies.
The necessity of this project is given by considerable differences between states from the EU and also between states from the EU and states that are aiming to join the EU (Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey). The activities of this project aims to promote and disseminate the results of technology research and demonstration projects, including any lessons learned concerning the policy and legislative context in which they were implemented. This will lead a closer international co-operation between all the actors involved (research institutes, construction companies, etc) of the countries involved in the project / from the EU and ACC countries.
The main directions in which the project intends to develop are:
- Management and co-ordination the overall legal, contractual, ethical, financial and administrative management.
- Co-ordination of the technical activities of the project.
- Overseeing science and society issues related to the research activities conducted.
- Co-ordination of knowledge management.
- Overseeing the promotion of gender equality in the project
